Telegram Adds Download Manager, New Night Mode on Android

Telegram is pushing another big update to end this week. This time around, we've added at least six new features or changes to our notable and popular messaging app. From new download managers to updated attachment pages, night mode, livestreaming, and watching public channels, there's a lot to offer here.

For most people, the big changes you'll notice are a new download manager, a new attachment menu, and a new dark mode for Android. The download manager is a new feature in Telegram that you can access from the logo in the search bar that pops up when you download something. Within that area, all downloads will be displayed in one place.

If you send a lot of photos and files to other users, you will also see an updated attachment menu. Now, it should be pointed out that this is new for iOS users. Android people have this sweet new menu with message preview for a while.

Regarding the new night mode, according to Telegram, the night mode Android interface is translucent. Subtle transparency is displayed in the panels and headers, so scroll to see backgrounds and stickers. Telegram doesn't think Android has ever seen this kind of visual effect.

It's clearly been on iOS since June and is now on our favorite platform.

The rest of the new features are as follows:

Redesign login flow: On Android and MacOS, a new login flow with smoother animations is here.

Phone number links: Telegram will now let you create links to your profile using your phone number, in case that’s easier than sharing your actual username link.

Live streaming with other apps: Telegram has built in the ability to livestream through broadcasting/streaming apps like OBS and XSplit. If you fire up a video chat or live stream in Telegram, you can enter in streaming credentials to a streaming service to help spread your streamed video across the world.

New t.me pages: Telegram has added new web preview pages of t.me profile pages, so that way you can view public profiles or channels on the web with better design elements.

Telegram is usually pretty good at updating its apps across all platforms pretty quickly rather than slowly rolling them out. I’m not seeing the updates just yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them throughout the day.
