On New Year's Eve, Xiaomi suddenly released an Android 11 update for Mi A3. But unfortunately, this build bricked the phone. As a result, the company stopped deploying and offered free repairs to affected customers. Then, after fixing the issue, the company re-released the update. However, the update did not include the native screen recorder, which is one of the main highlights of Android 11. Thankfully, Chinese smartphones are now seeding new builds with this missing feature.
The MiA3 Android 11 update comes with a December 2020 security patch, which was released in early January. As a result, the company has released a new update that raises the security patch level to January 2021.
The latest system update for the Xiaomi Mi A3 comes with build number V12.0.4.0.RFQMIXM (global variant) and is 329MB in size. Is it deployed in batch like any other OTA update? Anyway, interested users can go to Settings> System> Advanced> System Updates to see if the unit has received the update.
However, there is nothing in the update change log. However, it does have an Android 11 native screen recorder that wasn't in previous builds. You can access it from the Edit section of Quick Settings.
